To apply for your provisional driving licence by post you will need a D1 application form which you can get from the post office. This will need to be sent to the DVLA along with your payment, proof of identity, and 2 passport sized photos. Your completed D1 application form and payment should be sent to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AD. Or you can do it on-line (much simpler!)
Good question! You should be wary of some of the bigger driving schools who allow trainee instructors to give lessons. And they won’t tell you they are using you to practice on… I am fully qualified (grade 5) and CRB checked.
To pass your theory test you must achieve at least 43 out of 50 on the multiple choice section and at least 44 out of 75 on the hazard perception test. Failing either of these parts will result in having to retake both parts of the theory test. And don’t forget, all our pupils get free theory test training with Theory Test Pro.
The DVSA say that the average 17 year old will require an average of 45 hours professional training, plus an additional 20 hours of private practice. But I find that most pupils require about 35 hours of training without any additional help from friends or family members or about 30 hours if they practice in-between lessons.
The current first time pass rates at Scunthorpe test centre are 51.4% (male) and 41.8% (female). But my first time pass rate is higher than that, about 80%. So you have a very good chance of passing your driving test first time with me. Before you take your driving test I’ll make sure that you’re driving above the required standard so you can afford to make a few small mistakes and still pass. But it’s up to you on the day!
